Mayer Electric's Goedecke Receives "Influential" Award

CEO Nancy Collat Goedecke was named one of Birmingham, Alabama's "Most Influential Executives" by the Birmingham Business Journal.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Meyer Electric Supply CEO and Chairman Nancy Collat Goedecke was recently honored in the Birmingham Business Journal’s as one of Birmingham’s "Most Influential Executives."  Nancy heads the 1,000-employee company with 54 locations in eleven states across a southern footprint. Nancy is leading Mayer’s strategic growth plan as the company aims to have $1 billion in sales revenue by the year 2017. Her plan of action to accomplish this goal is by diversifying the business model and by expanding the branch locations. Since 2012, Mayer has established new branches in Dallas, Houston, Charlottesville, VA., and Augusta, GA. She was quoted saying “Part of our strategy is to grow when and where it makes sense.”

After being asked about the state of women executives in the Birmingham area, Nancy said “I think there are a number of highly qualified and very successful women executives in the nonprofit sector of Birmingham, but I don’t have a lot of peers on the business side.” She then turned it around and gave advice to women trying to succeed in a male-dominated field. Referencing the book “Lean In” by Sheryl Sandberg, she agrees with what it says about women holding back a little bit. Nancy believes that women should be confident to believe in themselves and be ready for that next step.
