Fact #1: According to a US DOE mandate, all states are required to adopt a new commercial energy code that meets or exceeds ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2010 by October 18th. Many states have complied and the remaining states will soon follow. The International Building Code (IBC) 2012 and the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) 2012, which incorporates the latest ASHRAE standards, requires increased use of continuous insulation (CI), integration of a continuous air barrier and NFPA 285 fire test compliance for air/water-resistive barriers.
