Haggard & Stocking Wins Excellence In Industry Award From ISA

The award recognized how Haggard & Stocking, working closely with inventory management system supplier CribMaster, developed a customized program to manage the Foreign Object Debris (FOD) requirements of an aerospace company. In order to meet stringent FOD requirements or risk losing major government contracts, the company requested Haggard & Stocking’s assistance in developing an automated program to track tooling.

The Industrial Supply Association named Haggard & Stocking Associates of Indianapolis the winner of the American Eagle Excellence in Industry Award at its Product Show & Conference in San Diego on June 2, 2013.

The award recognized how Haggard & Stocking, working closely with inventory management system supplier CribMaster, developed a customized program to manage the Foreign Object Debris (FOD) requirements of an aerospace company. In order to meet stringent FOD requirements or risk losing major government contracts, the company requested Haggard & Stocking’s assistance in developing an automated program to track tooling used to repair aircraft. Tooling left behind on an aircraft can potentially cause thousands of dollars in damage to the aircraft or even injure aircraft personnel.

“The company needed to automate its consumable supplies program for greater cost control, but the program also had to be FOD compliant,” said Bart Fellin of Fellin Industrial Sales, chairman of the ISA Awards and Recognition Subcommittee.

The effort required customized software programming changes to track inventory dispensed from a CribMaster WeighStation, and then to reconcile the data when tooling was returned to the unit at the end of the day. Using RFID technology, the program also enabled the company to quickly locate any items left on an aircraft.

“Thanks to the efforts of Haggard & Stocking and CribMaster, their customer was able to eliminate $150,000 in annual labor costs but also avoided potential fines and the major expense that can be caused by foreign object damage,” Fellin said.

The Excellence In Industry Award recognizes companies in the MROP channel for their commitment to driving value to channel partners. Qualified candidates demonstrate excellence in one or more areas, including: communicating with channel partners, introducing innovative products and services that create new business opportunities, developing effective marketing programs to drive sales, or showing exemplary leadership and service in partnership with charitable and community organizations.

“We are excited that H&S was awarded the American Eagle. We believe this represents the quality and commitment of the H&S team,” said Herb Haggard, founder and CEO of Haggard & Stocking. “To compete in this market, the privately owned distributor can co-exist with the big box distributors. Our advantage is our size, flexibility and commitment to service.”

Headquartered in Indianapolis and with branches in Fort Wayne, Ind., Greensboro, N.C., and Waco, Texas, Haggard & Stocking supplies the industrial marketplace with general MRO products and highly technical tooling used in precision industrial machinery. It serves the automotive, aerospace, foundry, machine tool, airline, heavy transportation, woodworking and metal fabrication markets.
