Kennametal CFO To Retire In September

Metalworking supplier Kennametal announced Friday that Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Jan Kees van Gaalen will retire from the company in September, and has begun the search for his successor.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Metalworking supplier Kennametal announced Friday that Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Jan Kees van Gaalen will retire from the company in September 2018. 

"Jan Kees has served the company well as CFO since 2015," company President and CEO Christopher Rossi said. "He was instrumental in helping improve the company's cost structure and driving the current strategy of simplification, growth and modernization while providing focus on strong operating cashflows, a conservative balance sheet and investment grade ratings."

"I want to thank Jan Kees for his contributions to the company and certainly wish him well with his future endeavors," Rossi added.

Mr. van Gaalen joined the company in September 2015, and has served as vice president and chief financial officer since that time. The company has engaged an external firm to assist in the search for a successor candidate.

Bacchus Appointed To Universal Stainless Board

Kennametal announced earlier int he week that Vice President and Chief Human Resources and Corporate Relations Officer, Judith Bacchus, has been appointed to serve on the board of directors for Universal Stainless and Alloy Products, Inc., a manufacturer of semi-finished and finished specialty steels.

"Judy's leadership has been invaluable to Kennametal over the past 12 years, and has given her a keen insight on the challenges facing manufacturing companies. I'm confident will she will serve as a strong asset to Universal Stainless' board."

Ms. Bacchus joined Kennametal in 2006 and has more than 25 years of experience spanning manufacturing, effective HR service delivery, strategic planning, policy and governance, M&A, organizational design and talent acquisition. She is currently responsible for all human resource activities globally at Kennametal spanning nearly 40 countries, as well as the company's internal and external corporate communications.
