In an expected move, Grainger will lay off "about 43 employees" from its Green Bay, WI distribution center beginning in March, according to a report Monday by The Janesville Gazette.

The news follows a report in October from The Gazette that Grainger had confirmed plans to relocate its warehousing and distribution operations from its Green Bay subsidiary, Imperial Supplies, to its 320,000 square foot Janesville facility near the Wisconsin/Illinois border.

According to the Monday report, which cites a Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development news release, some of Grainger's Green Bay employees will transfer to its Janesville location

Grainger-Imperial Supplies will begin to phase out its warehouse operation in Green Bay in March, and Imperial Supplies will remain headquartered there.

A letter from Imperial included in the news release said it first informed employees of the changes in April 2015 and told them they could apply for warehousing positions at Grainger's Janesville facility, according to the Gazette. The letter also said that an additional 11 Green Bay warehouse employees indicated they intend to transfer to Janesville.

Imperial Supplies supplies maintenance to the vehicle fleet market.
