NEW LENOX, IL — Munch’s Supply Co., Inc., a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) distributor and third-generation family business operating in Chicago and Northwest Indiana, has reached a definitive agreement with Trane and American Standard Heating and Air Conditioning, both brands of Ingersoll Rand, to become the exclusive distributor for both brands in the lower peninsula of Michigan.

Beginning Sept. 1, Munch’s Supply will assume operations at Trane’s pre-existing locations in Brighton, Grand Rapids and Madison Heights to serve dealers throughout the state. Plans are in place to add a second Detroit-area location in 2016.

“We’re looking forward to bringing Munch’s Supply to HVAC dealers in Michigan starting September 1,” said Robert Munch, CEO of Munch’s Supply. “That includes not only the same great service customers have relied on from Trane and American Standard, but additional offerings that will make an immediate difference in how dealers do business.”

Some of the services Munch’s Supply will offer starting day one include:

  • One-hour, will-call guarantee;
  • Next-day delivery statewide;
  • Expanded technical support for American Standard and Trane brands; and
  • Full e-commerce capabilities at www.munchmichigan.com.

“We believe the Munch’s Supply business model is well-suited to strengthen and grow our operations in Michigan and exceed the expectations of our valued dealers in the market,” said Gary Michel, senior vice president and president, Residential HVAC, Ingersoll Rand. “Having worked closely with Munch’s Supply for years, we know they will be an ideal partner for our customers, associates and our Trane and American Standard brands in Michigan.”

Starting Jan. 1, 2016, Munch’s Supply will roll out its full-service distribution model for Michigan dealers. This approach has earned Munch’s a stellar reputation in the greater Chicago area, including:

  • Full inventory of more than 8,000 items to service or install heating, cooling and hydronic equipment;
  • Same-day delivery;
  • Seven-days-a-week delivery; and
  • Market-specific training and promotional plans.

In the coming months, Munch’s Supply plans to add several dozen employees to the existing Michigan team to support this busy new market.

“It’s really exciting to become a part of the Munch’s Supply family,” said Jeff Bergel, Trane territory manager. “This is a great opportunity to continue to serve our customers with the Trane and American Standard products they want along with several new offers from Munch’s Supply. I have been working in the Michigan HVAC community for over 20 years, and I feel that with the added products and services that Munch’s Supply is bringing to the Michigan market, we offer our dealers and contractors the best in equipment, supplies, support and business development.”
