NFDA Teams With FCH To Produce Fastener Distributor Index

NFDA has collaborated with FCH to continue the Index, a valuable industry benchmarking service published monthly since 2012.

The National Fastener Distributors Association (NFDA) has announced a new collaboration with FCH Sourcing Network (FCH) to produce the monthly Fastener Distributor Index (FDI).

Since 2012, FCH Sourcing Network has published the monthly Fastener Distributor Index (FDI), compiled by BB&T Capital Markets from a regular survey of North American fastener distributors. When BB&T had to end its participation in FDI, NFDA created a collaboration with FCH to continue this valuable industry benchmarking service.

The FDI allows qualified industry participants to identify the trends they are experiencing in areas such as demand, pricing, inventories and outlook, through a monthly survey. Individual responses are kept strictly confidential, and the aggregate information now is analyzed by the Profit Planning Group (the firm that produces the NFDA Compensation and Profit Reports).

You can find the FDI on the home page of www.nfda-fastener.org, with archives of past reports in the NFDA article archive. These reports are available to the public; no NFDA password is required.

Paul Tiffany, NFDA president says, “The NFDA is always seeking to provide value for its members and the industry as a whole. A North American Fastener Distributor Index, put together by the distributors themselves, is able to provide real time, accurate, and industry-specific information.”

Eric Dudas with FCH Sourcing Network adds, "Since its inception in 2011, FDI has been intended to provide fastener distributors with a snapshot of current industry activity and sentiment, and I think we've succeeded.  We're thrilled to be partnering with the NFDA because it validates our original vision, and will only serve to make the index a stronger barometer for the industry."

If you do not currently participate in the FDI data collection survey, you are welcome to be part of this timely and relevant benchmarking tool. All participants receive a monthly email reminder and a link to the open survey website five days before the end of the month. The survey itself is a very manageable single page that asks very brief, qualitative questions about that month’s business conditions, and it takes only a few moments to complete. All survey responses are kept strictly confidential, never cited specifically or released.
