NetPlus Alliance Receives Outstanding Internship Partner Award

Industrial and contractor supplies buying group NetPlus Alliance recently received the Outstanding Internship Partner award from the University at Buffalo School of Management’s Career Resource Center, recognizing NetPlus for the credit-bearing internships it has provided over the past six years.

LOCKPORT, NY — NetPlus Alliance, a North American industrial and contractor supplies buying group, received the Outstanding Internship Partner award from the University at Buffalo School of Management’s Career Resource Center. The award recognizes the credit-bearing internships NetPlus has provided in marketing, communications, finance and IT over the past six years. The school’s Career Resource Center (CRC) honored individuals and organizations that made a significant impact on students’ career development over the past year during a reception on May 9, 2018.

NetPlus Alliance has drawn much of its talent from the University of Buffalo. “To have long-term hiring success, it’s about finding the right people that fit your organization. Hire on the right attitude and strong core skills like customer service, and a good cultural fit. Then teach the industrial or contractor supplies knowledge,” Jennifer Murphy, NetPlus Alliance President, said of NetPlus’s philosophy.

NetPlus has participated in UB’s internship program for four years, with a total of six interns. Two of those interns have gone on to become employees including:

  • Zachary Brado (Director of Business Development), UB ’11 – Summa Cum Laude, UB MBA ’13, Business Administration, Marketing Concentration, UB Internship Program
  • Melissa Obenshain (Operations Coordinator), UB ’17, Business Administration-Marketing & Human Resources Concentration, UB Internship Program

“Bringing new people into the industry is critical for our long-term success, and here at NetPlus we are investing in the next generation,” Murphy said. “For example, Zach, who is now our director of business development and a member of the Emerging Leaders committee for the Industrial Supply Association, came to us as an intern with no knowledge of the industry. He’s now a passionate advocate for distributors and suppliers.”

With more than 100 years of combined industrial distribution experience, NetPlus Alliance negotiates improved pricing, rebates and terms with 172 manufacturers on behalf of more than 396 industrial and contractor supplies distributor members.
