With the constant shipping goal of getting products to consumers and end users as fast as possible, FedEx Ground is certainly doing its part.

The FedEx subsidiary, founded in 1985, had third quarter revenue of $3.39 billion for the period ended Feb. 28, up 12 percent year-over-year, while operating income grew 15 percent to $558 million. FedEx had quarterly revenue of $11.6 billion. FedEx Ground average daily volume grew 7 percent in Q3 due to B2B and home delivery services.

Here are some other figures the company included in its quarterly infographic:

  • > 70,000 team members
  • > 40,000 motorized vehicles
  • 33 hubs
  • 27 FedEx SmartPost Distribution centers
  • > 500 Pickup/Delivery Stations
  • 725 FedEx World Service Center Locations
  • 6,100 FedEx Authorized ShipCenter Locations & Alliance Partners

The company is no doubt in a state of further broad expansion. Since 2005, FedEx Ground has opened 11 new hubs and expanded or relocated more than 500 facilities. Last October, the company said it is investing $1.2 billion across more than 70 expansion projects during fiscal 2015. That's in addition to the $2.5 million it invested in expansion projects in the previous five years.

Those expansions helped accelerate FedEx Ground delivery by one day or more in more than two-thirds of the United States. The company said last October that 83 percent of packages are delivered in three business days or less.
