Aremco (Valley Cottage, NY) offers Pyro-Paint, a new high-temperature, alumina-filled refractory coating. It is designed to bond, coat, and seal refractory fiber boards and other shapes. According to the company, it provides resistance to molten metals and open flames to 3200 oF (1760 °C). Pyro-Paint tm 634-AL is formulated as a two-part system consisting of a liquid binder system and powder filler. Mix ratio is 3:1 powder to liquid by weight, but this ratio can be modified to vary the viscosity. It is typically applied using a brush, roller, or conventional spray equipment.
