Rexel Replaces CEO; Appoints Former Wolseley CEO As Non-Exec Chair

Rexel said CEO Rudy Provoost was asked to step down "as a result of a divergence of views with the board of directors about the change in governance." Meanwhile, former Wolseley CEO Ian Meakins will join the company's board and become non-executive chairman Oct. 1.

Paris, France-based electrical distributor Rexel recently announced that chairman CEO Rudy Provoost is stepping down on July 30, and announced a "new governance structure" that involves splitting the roles of chairman and CEO.

Patrick Berard will become the company's new CEO, effective July 1. Rexel has appointed Francois Henrot its new interim chairman, effective July 1, while former Wolseley CEO Ian Meakins will join the board on that same date and become non-executive chairman on Oct. 1. The board will co-opt Meakins as an independent director in place of Provost

Rexel said it made the decisions at its meeting on June 23, adding that Provoost was "invited to relinquish" his positions "as a result of a divergence of views with the board of directors about the change in governance."

Mr. Berard’s broad industry experience, knowledge of Rexel’s business and excellent management skills will be strong assets for the company. Berard has occupied a variety of senior management positions at Rexel since joining the company in 2003 and has been in charge of Rexel’s European operations since July 2015.
