ABB Makes Management Appointments

The appointments include a new leader of Memphis, TN-based Thomas & Betts, the installation products business ABB acquired in May 2012

ZURICH, Switzerland — Power and automation provider ABB announced multiple management appointments has announced multiple appointments to its group management positions.

ABB has appointed Sami Atiya to its Executive Committee as President of the Discrete Automation and Motion (DM) division, effective June 13. He succeeds Pekka Tiitinen, who will return to his home country as Managing Director of ABB in Finland.

Atiya served Siemens for 18 years in the US and Europe, most recently since 2011 as CEO of the Mobility and Logistics division and as CEO of the Computer Tomography unit from 2008 to 2011. Prior to that he held various leadership roles at Siemens Medical Solutions Inc., in the US, and Siemens Business Services.

In the U.S., ABB has appointed Doug Schuster global leader of Thomas & Betts, the installation products business it acquired in May 2012. He joins ABB from Eaton Corporation, where he led its Critical Power Solutions division globally. He will be based in Memphis, TN, ABB’s Electrification Products division Americas headquarters.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the electrical engineering industry, Schuster will be charged with growing the electrical installation arm of ABB, both in the U.S. and internationally.
