Duracell Professional Begins Business As Berkshire Subsidiary

Sold from Procter & Gamble to Berkshire Hathaway in a deal announced in November 2014, Duracell Professional now operates under the new Duracell Company as an independent, wholly-owned subsidiary.

BETHEL, CT — As of March 1, Duracell Professional, the business-to-business division of Duracell, will operate under the new Duracell Company, now an independent, wholly-owned subsidiary of the Berkshire Hathaway Company.

Duracell, formerly a subsidiary of Procter & Gamble, was sold to Berkshire Hathaway on February 29, 2016 in a deal that was announced in November 2014. In an internal video announcing the completion of the transition, Angelo Pantaleo, CEO of Duracell, pledged to build upon the battery maker’s rich past and strong foundation and to help the company evolve into the world’s No. 1 personal power company.

“For more than a half a century the Duracell CopperTop has stood for endurance, reliability and trust,” Pantaleo said. “Today, as Duracell enters a new era, that trust endures and our future is bright.”

Paul Schacht, Vice President and General Manager of Duracell Professional, agrees with Pantaleo. “I am excited for the future of Duracell Professional and Duracell as a whole,” Schacht said. “Our business continues to adapt and evolve, but we remain committed to providing our customers with the high quality products and services they expect. Even as we become a nimbler, more focused company, we will continue to lead the market by delivering superior batteries, best-in-class marketing, innovation and in-store visibility.”
