CBT Acquires Fellow Ohio Distributor FDL Automation & Supply

FDL — an electrical distributor serving west-central Ohio with approximately 25 employees — started doing business under the CBT name effective April 1.

Cincinnati, OH-based CBT Co. — No. 50 on Industrial Distribution's 2015 Big 50 List — on Friday announced it has acquired Sidney, OH-based FDL Automation & Supply.

Effective April 1, FDL will do business under the CBT name. Terms were not disclosed.

FDL Automation is an electrical distributor serving west-central Ohio. The company has about 25 workers, according to the Cincinnati Business Courier, though it wasn't clear if all of them will join CBT's workforce of 176.

"Our companies already share many customers and business partners, and we intend to enhance and expand these essential relationships," CBT said in a release.

CBT provides electrical products to contractors, OEMs and the industrial market. The addition brings its combined local inventory to more than 100,000 square feet across its Ohio locations of Sidney, Springboro and Cincinnati. The company has expanded options for automation, electrical supplies, mechanical power transmission,  pneumatics and belting and conveyor components.

CBT is an Allen Bradley and Rockwell Automation distributor in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky market, while also serving the Sidney and Dayton market.

CBT plans to relocate its downtown Cincinnati headquarters to a new 95,000 square foot facility in Columbia Township, a northeast suburb, in July.
