DistributionNOW Acquires Ohio's Updike Supply

The move complements DNOW's earlier 2015 acquisitions of Challenger Industries and Odessa Pumps, strengthening its offerings of technical applications support and inventory management solutions.

Houston-based NOW Inc., which operates as DistributionNOW, has announced the acquisition of Dayton, Ohio-based Updike Supply Company, a provider of MRO products and inventory management services.

DistributionNOW was No. 11 on Industrial Distribution's 2015 Big 50 List.

Updike, founded in 1968, focuses on reducing the cost of ownership of perishable tools and industrial supplies for metal cutting and forming businesses in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. Updike president and owner Steve Short was president of the Industrial Supply Association in 2006-2007.

"The combination of these two respected companies will further strengthen DistributionNOW's core offerings of technical applications support and inventory management solutions to the manufacturing segment," the company said in a press release announcing the acquisition.

DistributionNow says Updike will operate in the Machine Tools Supply and Manufacturing Services group, which was established after DNOW’s acquisition of Machine Tools Supply (MTS) in January 2015.

The move compliments DNOW's earlier 2015 acquisitions of Challenger Industries and Odessa Pumps.
