Coastal Welding Supply Receives National Safety Award

Coastal was chosen out of more than 70 companies for the award, which promotes safety awareness and recognizes companies that show the greatest improvement in safety performance over a five-year period.

BEAUMONT, TEXAS — The national Compressed Gas Association (CGA) and the Gases and Welding Distributors Association (GAWDA) have announced Southeast Texas based Coastal Welding Supply as the winner of the CGA and GAWDA Distributor Safety Award. Established in 2011, the award promotes safety awareness as an extension of the Associations’ missions and recognizes companies that show the greatest improvement in safety performance over a five-year period. Coastal was the inaugural recipient of the award in 2011. This year’s award is the second for the 52-year-old, second generation company, with nine locations throughout Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana.

This year, more than 70 companies submitted their 2014 safety data to be considered for the award. The award is presented in two categories based on the submitting company’s total number of employee exposure hours. Representatives from the winning companies were recognized at the GAWDA Annual Convention in Scottsdale, Arizona, last month.

Award winners:

  • More than 100,000 Employee Exposure Hours: Coastal Welding Supply of Beaumont, Texas
  • 100,000 or Fewer Employee Exposure Hours: Wagner Welding Supply of Longmont, Colorado

The names of all winning companies are on permanent display at CGA’s headquarters in Chantilly, Virginia.

Coastal Welding Supply President, J.C.“Chuck” Mazoch attributed the award presentation to the total commitment demonstrated daily by his employee team. “At Coastal, safety is a 100 percent team effort and we have a great team that is focused on producing products safely and delivering these products safely to our customers,“ said Mazoch.

Mr. Mazoch would also like to commend GAWDA and CGA for their support of the independent distributors and their assistance in providing a safe working environment for our industry as a whole.
