Bossard Q3 Boosted By U.S. Sales Growth; Company Adds Germany DC

The company's Q1 acquisition of Phoenix, AZ-based Aero-Space Southwest grew U.S. sales 39 percent in local currency, while the company also recently announced a new $16 million, 65,700 square foot distribution center in Germany.

Switzerland-based Bossard â€“ No. 26 on Industrial Distribution's 2015 Big 50 List – reported its 2015 third quarter sales results on Tuesday, with U.S. sales leading healthy growth for the company.

The company reported overall Q3 revenue of $168.9 million, a 6.9 percent increase over last year. Sales grew 11.3 percent in local currency.

U.S. sales of $40.9 million were up 44.1 percent from last year, and up 39 percent in local currency. The substantial increase was primarily due to Bossard's Q1 acquisition of Phoenix, AZ-based distributor Aero-Space Southwest, as year-to-date U.S. sales growth would have declined 2.6 percent without it. Instead, YTD U.S. sales grew 28.7 percent in local currency.

European sales of $99.8 million declined 1.9 percent from last year, and increased 5.7 percent in local currency.

Sales in Asia increased 1.5 percent from last year to $28.2 million, a 1.1 percent increase in local currency.

Year-to-date, Bossard had total sales of $519.5 million, up 5.9 percent from last year, and up 9.6 percent in local currency.

Bossard is forecasting total 2015 sales of $669.

The company also recently announced a warehouse expansion at its Germany location in Illerrieden. There, the company has invested nearly $16 million into building a new 65,700 square foot warehouse. The result will increase its Illerrieden capacity four-fold and shorten delivery routes.

Bossard and its subsidiary KVT-Fastening will use the new warehouse as a logistics hub for all product deliveries within Germany, and the Central and Eastern Europe regions.

"Illerieden was specially selected for its central location in Europe. From here, we can reach all export countries in the EU relevant for our group," said Frank Hilgers, Bossard executive committee member. "This is beneficial for our domestic as well as international Bossard and KVT-Fastening customers."

The groundbreaking ceremony was on Sept. 23, with the commissioning planned for in early 2017.
