Atlas Copco USA's 'Water For All' Donates $50K To Denver-Based Charity

Donated in honor of Atlas Copco USA's 31st anniversary, the money from the employee-run Water for All organization will fund clean water and sanitation projects in Nicaragua.

In honor of its 31st anniversary, the Atlas Copco USA employee-run Water for All organization has donated $50,000 to Denver-based charity Water for People. The donation will fund clean water and sanitation projects in Nicaragua.

“Atlas Copco is committed to global sustainability and the Water for All program is just one way our employees act on that commitment,” said Jim Levitt, president of Atlas Copco North America. “We are proud to support organizations like Water for People, who are committed to helping create a world where all people have access to clean water, adequate sanitation, and basic health services.”

While Nicaragua is the largest country in Central America with a population of over six million, it is also the poorest. The $50,000 donation will help fund a program that is focused on bringing clean drinking water, toilets and hand washing facilities, as well as hygiene education, to three schools and five communities in Nicaragua. The donation will directly impact the municipalities of San Rafael del Norte and La Concordia in the department of Jinotega.

Atlas Copco’s employee-run Water for All organization raises money to support projects and organizations that provide people in need with access to safe, clean water and sanitation. Since 2010, Water for All USA has donated a total of $711,000 – with $532,000 donated in just the past two years – to combat the global water crisis and bring clean drinking water to approximately 36,000 people.

The organization is represented in 35 countries with approximately 5,000 employees who donate annually. Donations are boosted by the Atlas Copco Group, which double-matches employee donations. One hundred percent of employee donations go directly into funding clean water projects.

Atlas Copco North America operates 116 locations and employs more than 4,800 people in the United States. Globally, Atlas Copco had revenues of approximately $12.8B in 2013. One-fifth of the company’s global revenue comes from North America.
