Abrasive Power Tools Deal: Dynabrade Acquires National Detroit

The deal is to strengthen Dynablade's product line of abrasive power tools for global distribution.

An an abrasive power tools manufacturers deal, Clarence, NY-based Dynabrade has acquired Rockford, IL's National Detroit. Terms were not disclosed.

National Detroit, which makes pneumatic abrasive power tools, will relocate its production operations to Dynabrade's Clarence headquarters. The company is still evaluating how many National Detroit employees will relocate.

Dynabrade president Ned Librock called the deal a natural fit.

"This acquisition reflects Dynabrade’s continued growth and momentum in the abrasive power tool industry as well our confidence in our overall brand strength in global markets," he said in a statement. “National Detroit’s product line is very much like that of Dynabrade’s,” Librock continued. “They’re a pneumatic abrasive power tool company, and the product lines are very similar. National Detroit has a great, 76-year brand equity, and we’re going to leverage that with our product line and our exiting strong network of distribution.”

Dynabrade manufactures portable abrasive power tools for grinding, deburring, filing and sanding. The company sells through a worldwide distribution network. National Detroit’s product line includes random orbital and gear-driven sanders, buffers, polishers, grinders and related accessories, selling through a variety of industries.
