France-based electrical distributor Sonepar announced Wednesday that it acquired Gruppo Matel Spa, an Italian full-service electrical supplies distributor, on Jan. 12.
Founded in Italy in 1987, Gruppo mostly serves the residential market, and had 2013 sales of $32.6 million. The Padua-based company operates seven branches, with its presence primarily in the country's Northeast region. Gruppo Metal Spa also has a presence in Romania under the brandname Eurosei, with three branches in the country's biggest cities. Its sale in Romania totaled $2.3 million in 2013.
