Sonepar Adds 4 Asian Companies

The additions reinforce Sonepar's position in the Hong Kong and Macau markets, as well as its oil & gas presence in Southeast Asia.

France-based electrical distributor Sonepar recently announced it has acquired four companies in Asia, adding a total of $28 million in sales, along with 67 associates. The additions reinforce Sonepar's poisition in the Hong Kong and Macau markets, as well as its Oil & Gas presence in Southeast Asia.

Sonepar's Hong Kong business unit, Supermoon, has entered into a partnership with Hiptung Cables, a specialized power cables distributor operating in Hong Kong and Macau with sales of more than $13.4 million in 2013. Supermoon also adds Min Kwong Electric, one of the oldest local electrical wholesalers in Hong Kong, with sales of $3.65 million in 2013.

Sonepar's Singapore business arm, Oakwell, also added two companies. In Singapore, Dilon joines Oakwell effective Dec. 31. Dilon is a Singaporean specialized distributor of fasteners and machine components for the oil and gas and marine industries, with annual sales of $3.65 million. In Thailand, a joint venture between ETS Engineering, ETS Provider, and Oakwell has created ETS-Oakwell, a new company based in Bankok. ETS-Oakwell officially joined Oakwell on Monday, with sales of more than $7.3 million.
