Builders FirstSource Opens DC, Relocates Another In Texas

The company announced plans to open a distribution center North of Houston, and to relocate its existing San Antonio location Northeast of the city.

DALLAS — Builders FirstSource, Inc. (Nasdaq:BLDR), a supplier and manufacturer of structural and related building products for residential new construction in the United States, on Tuesday announced the planned opening of a new distribution facility in Conroe, Texas, as well as the relocation of its existing San Antonio, Texas distribution facility.

The Conroe facility is located on the I-45 corridor approximately 40 miles north of downtown Houston. It is an 11.5 acre site that includes 60,000 square feet of warehouse, showroom and office space. Product offerings will include dimensional lumber and lumber sheet goods, interior and exterior doors, millwork and other distributed building products.

The new San Antonio facility is located in Schertz, Texas, approximately 20 miles northeast of downtown. This rail served site sits on 15 acres and has approximately 90,000 square feet of warehouse and office space, and multiple outside storage sheds. Products initially distributed from this location will include dimensional lumber and lumber sheet goods but will eventually include interior and exterior doors, as well as millwork.

Commenting on the new locations, Floyd Sherman, Builders FirstSource CEO said, "Our recent Houston acquisition was a major step into a market we feel has very strong growth prospects. The purchase of the Conroe facility increases our footprint within this market, allowing us to service our current customers from the north side while providing us the opportunity to expand our customer base." Mr. Sherman added, "The relocation of our San Antonio location was necessary as the lease on our existing distribution facility, located on the northwest side of the market, was soon expiring. San Antonio is a very important market for us and the Schertz facility is an excellent one, located in the heart of this expanding market. We feel very fortunate to have secured these prime facilities within two of the best housing markets in the United States."

Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Builders FirstSource operates 56 distribution centers and 52 manufacturing facilities in 9 states, principally in the southern and eastern United States. For more information about Builders FirstSource, visit the company's website at www.bldr.com.
