RMT Robotics Joins Muratec Group In Cimcorp Acquisition

The overall acquisition now allows the Muratec-Cimcorp Group to be a one-stop-shop in the material handling industry.

GRIMSBY, Ontario — RMT Robotics, a Cimcorp Oy company that manufactures and integrates robotic gantry-based order fulfillment and tire handling solutions, announced Monday that it has joined the Muratec Group as part of the acquisition of Cimcorp Oy (Cimcorp) and its subsidiaries by Kyoto, Japan-based Murata Machinery, Ltd. (Muratec). Together, the companies will provide material handling solutions to a global client base. Both Muratec and Cimcorp will continue business operations going forward with no change to their current strategies.

Muratec and Cimcorp are worldwide leaders in their respective fields in the material handling industry. With more than €1.6 billion (U.S. $2.02 billion) in annual sales, Muratec is ranked as having the fourth highest annual sales in the world amongst solution providers for material handling systems. Ulvila, Finland-based Cimcorp, with estimated 2014 revenue of €60 million ($75.65 million), is the top supplier for intralogistics in the tire industry and has unique solutions for a variety of retail and distribution customers.

Cimcorp acquired Canada-based RMT Robotics in 2010, adding extensive case picking, automation and robotic capabilities to its portfolio of material handling solutions.

Murata Machinery, Ltd. was established in 1935.
