MSC Industrial Opens $55M Ohio Distribution Center

The Columbus, Ohio customer fulfillment center is MSC's fifth in the country, and plans to host 300 employees by the end of 2017.

Metalworking, maintenance, repair, and operations supplier MSC Industrial opened its $55.5 million, 400,000 square foot distribution center in Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday at a ribbon-cutting ceremony, giving the company a large new foothold in the midwest.

MSC, which came in at No. 14 on Industrial Distribution's 2014 Big 50 List, employs 100 full-time workers at the center, with plans to expand that number to 300 over the next four years. The 70-acre site is also designed to accomodate future expansion.

"Our Columbus customer fulfillment center will allow us to serve our customers, and particularly those in the midwest, even better," said Erik Gershwind, President/CEO of MSC. "Manufacturers and businesses across North America count on MSC to deliver metalworking and MRO solutions that are critical to helping them keep their operations up and running and competitive, and we take that responsibility seriously.

"The quality of talent here in Columbus is exceptionally high and will play a key role in helping us efficiently manage and expand our service volume. We are excited to open our doors here today and look forward to being a reliable fixture in the Columbus community for many years to come."

MSC is one of the world's largest distributors of hardware, hand tools, and industrial equipment. Its other distribution centers are in Reno, Nevada; Elkhart, Indiana; Harrisburg, Pennslyvania; and Atlanta.
