St. Louis--The National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), a member of the Marketplace Fairness Coalition, strongly supports the Marketplace and Internet Tax Fairness Act (MIFTA) introduced in the Senate earlier this week.
Introduced by Senators Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) and Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) the combined bill would extend the moratorium on taxing Internet access services and allow for the collection of more taxes from online sales.
“We’re happy to see progress on this important issue,” commented Ed Orlet, NAED Government Affairs vice president. “Our members need to be on a level playing field with online sellers and this bill contains many safeguards and protections to ensure it’s done the right way.”
The Marketplace Fairness Coalition supports federal legislation that empowers states to update sales and use tax laws to level the playing field for all sellers.
