Wisconsin Developing Proposal To Land Boeing

Boeing is looking for a place to build the next-generation 777X commercial airplane after machinist union members in Washington state rejected a proposed contract that sought concessions on pensions and health care costs.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin economic development officials are crafting a proposal for Boeing Co. to build its new commercial airplane in the state.

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation said in a statement Wednesday to The Associated Press that Wisconsin was not one of the states Boeing approached to submit a request for proposal. However, WEDC is developing a proposal for Boeing with plans to present it soon.

WEDC says that more than 140 Wisconsin suppliers already work with Boeing and the state is uniquely positioned to meet its needs.
