Owens Corning To Open Facility In NC

The facility will house the manufacturing and research & development for the glass fiber sector of Owens Corning. The initial investment will be $120 million and at full operations the company will employ up to 110 persons.

Owens Corning will construct an advanced manufacturing plant in the Gastonia Technology Park (GTP). The facility will house the manufacturing and research & development for the glass fiber sector of Owens Corning. The initial investment will be $120 million and at full operations the company will employ up to 110 persons. Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of 2013 with the completion of the facility to occur by fourth quarter 2014.

The Gastonia operation will support growing customer demand for glass non-woven products serving the global building materials market, complementing our existing facilities in Europe and North America, and enhancing Owens Corningβ€Ÿs leadership position in the provision of glass non-woven technologies,” he added.

Mr. Tracey Philbeck, Vice Chairman of the Gaston County Board of Commissioners said; β€œWe are excited to welcome Owens Corning to Gaston County and for choosing the Gastonia Technology Park (GTP) for their newest advanced manufacturing facility. This is great news for our community. I along with the rest of the Commissioners, are elated to have another internationally recognized company in Owens Corning to locate in the Gastonia Technology Park.” He further stated, β€œThe recruitment of world class firms was the main objective for the County to invest in the development of the GTP.
