Washington, DC - The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) outgoing Chair Cally Coleman Fromme, EVP at Zarsky Lumber in Victoria, Texas, announced three Chairman Awards at the ProDealer Industry Summit in Savannah, Georgia. At the installation dinner Wednesday night, Fromme capped her term as the head of NLBMDA by honoring those that have gone above and beyond to support America's lumber and building material dealers:

  • 2008 NLBMDA Chairman Harold Baalmann of B&B Lumber Company in Wichita, Kansas for his work representing the industry on the American Lumber Standard Committee over the past year during the contentious discussions on Southern Pine design values;
  • Outgoing NLBMDA Manufacturers and Services Council Chair Carlos Guilherme of the Weyerhaeuser Corporation in Federal Way, Washington for stepping back into the MSC chairmanship and leading it to its best membership growth in years; and
  • The Oklahoma Lumbermen's Association for its efforts to promote reform of the EPA Lead Rule resulting in its entire Congressional delegation supporting NLBMDA-promoted legislation.

"These members have worked so hard to advance the business interests of our lumber dealers and the entire industry; they deserve the special recognition of a Chairman's Award. The selfless service and volunteerism of Harold, Carlos, and the Oklahoma members set true examples and high standards for me and the industry," said Cally Coleman Fromme. "The drive of the award recipients reminds me why I hope to spend my life with the hardworking people who provide the construction supplies that have built this great country."

The ProDealer Industry Summit is an exclusive 3 day educational and networking forum designed to promote the growth of Lumber & Building Product dealers, distributors, wholesalers, and the manufacturers who supply them. LBM dealers benefit from sharing insights and best practices from leaders in the industry, in a relaxed 3 day format that encourages networking and personal interaction.

The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) represents its members in the national public policy arena, with emphasis on efforts to 1) promote the industry and educate legislators and public policy personnel; and 2) assist legislative, regulatory, standard-setting and other government or private bodies in the development of laws, regulations and policies affecting lumber and building material dealers, its customers and suppliers. Founded in 1917, the association has over 6,000 members operating single or multiple lumber yards and component plants serving homebuilders, subcontractors, general contractors, and consumers in the new construction, repair and remodeling of residential and light commercial.
