Grainger announces largest product line expansion ever

W.W. Grainger Inc.’s 2008 catalog includes 44,000 new items, the broad-line MRO distributor’s largest product line expansion ever.The 3,900-page catalog of more than 183,000 products now includes 4,000 power transmission products, 9,000 raw materials products, 4,200 fleet maintenance products and 30,000 gap-fill plumbing, electrical, tools and material handling products.
"Our customers count on us to be the one-stop shop for all their facilities maintenance supplies," Grainger Industrial Supply president Y.C. Chen said. "By providing easy access to a broad array of maintenance, repair and operating products, Grainger helps customers be more productive in maintaining facilities."
The company also announced the launch of a new private-label professional cleaning supplies brand, Tough Guy, which includes degreasers, disinfectants, foam and lotion soaps and dispensers and polyethylene trash containers.
The Lake Forest, Ill.-based company’s ongoing product line expansion program contributed a 2 percent increase in revenue growth in the branch-based segment last year for Grainger, which ranked fourth on INDUSTRIAL DISTRIBUTION’s 2007 Big 50 list of distributors with sales of $5.8 billion in 2006. The company had sales of $6.4 billion in 2007.
