ASMMA elects officers, hosts Strategic Seminar Series. The American Supply and Machinery Manufacturers Assn. elected the following to office for the term June 1, 2001 to May 31, 2002: David R. Thompson, President; Hardy Hamann, First Vice President; Raymond Reynertson, Second Vice President; Timothy T. Tevins, Secretary; Michael L. Denoma, Treasurer.
Elected members-at-large of the Board for the term June 1, 2001 to May 31, 2004: Arthur E. Ellison, Thomas Haag, John Schiech, and Douglas Starrett.
ASMMA will host its "Getting to Market in the New Economy" seminar series including "How to make clear, strategic channel choices," June 19 and 20, and "Decide what to outsource and how to do it," June 21 and 22.

World of Concrete holds successful trade show. The World of Concrete international trade show held February 26 to March 2 in Las Vegas hosted over 77,000 construction professionals. The event was the largest in the 27-year-old show's history.
Among the new attractions at the event this year were the World of Masonry and The Producer Center. "Launching World of Masonry and The Producer Center proved to be very popular on both the exhibitor and attendee/buyer sides of the aisle," said Chuck Simanek, Vice President of World of Concrete.
AMT offers directory of member products. The Assn. for Manufacturing Technology has published Directory: Machine Tools & Manufacturing Equipment by AMT Members. The directory includes information on machine tools, manufacturing machinery and related equipment. It is used by industry executives, market researchers, financial analysts and engineers.
The directory includes a product listing section in five groups: material cutting machine tools; forming and fabricating machine tools; automation and special processes; machine tool related products; and controls, software and services. The directory includes an alphabetical listing of companies.
PTDA members are optimistic. The Power Transmission Distributors Assn. said recently that members are optimistic about financial projections for 2001.
According to the association, while pessimism is more evident than it was last year, most members responding to a survey said they believe the economic downturn will be short-lived, with a rebound this summer. Eighty percent of the companies responding expect to increase sales this year, with 35 percent expecting more than a 10-percent increase.
In other news, Stephanie A. Kaplan was promoted to Executive Director, PTDA Educational & Scholastic Foundation.
NEDA Education Foundation elects board. The National Electronic Distributors Assn. elected a new Board of Director for fiscal 2002-2003: Frank Flynn, Sager Electronics, President; Patricia Moorman, Bourns, Inc., Vice President; Barbara Buckalew, Murata Electronics, Secretary; Steve Church, Avnet, Inc., Treasurer; Distributor Directors: David Bowers, NuHorizons Electronics; Paul Buckley, Arrow Electronics; Carmen DeLeo, CDM Electronics; Bruce Goldberg, All American; and Kip Poncher, Hawk Electronics.
ISSA to change convention format. The International Sanitary Supply Assn. will change the format of its annual convention starting in 2002. The convention will now be named ISSA/INTERCLEAN. There will be time set aside for private meetings at the request of distributors and manufacturers.

Wed., Oct. 16: tradeshow opens; end users seminar; keynote speaker.
Thurs., Oct. 17 : open to all cleaning professionals.
Fri., Oct. 18: open to all cleaning professionals.

FPDA accepting technologist's Award nominations. The Fluid Power Distributors Assn. is accepting nominations for the 2001 Technologist's Award, which recognizes exemplary use of information management technology by members. Recipients are invited to address the FPDA/NFPA Joint Fall Conference in October.
Livingston & Haven, a distributor member in Charlotte, N.C., received the 2000 award.
