84 Lumber ditches plans for Kansas location

84 Lumber Co.ditched a plan to build a new store in Wichita, Kan., the Home Channel News site reported (registration required).The Eighty Four, Pa.-based building materials distributor bought a 12-acre lot in Wichita two years ago, but scuttled its plans for a location there due to the ongoing slump in the housing sector, vice president of marketing and public relations Jeff Nobers told the Web site.
