Industry consolidation continues as McJunkin Red Man buys pipe distributor LaBarge Pipe & Steel

Distribution industry consolidation took another step as McJunkin Red Man Corp. acquired LaBarge Pipe & Steel Co. for an undisclosed amount.

St. Louis-based LaBarge, which manufactures and distributes large-diameter carbon steel pipe primarily to the North American energy infrastructure market, has four locations in St. Louis, Houston, Birmingham, Ala., and Charlotte and a manufacturing facility in Wagoner, Okla.

Tulsa, Okla., and Charleston, W.Va.-based MRM ranked sixth on INDUSTRIAL DISTRIBUTION's 2008 Big 50 list of distributors, with 2007 sales of $4 billion.
