Kennametal to buy metal coatings manufacturer

Birmingham, Ala.-based Tricon makes abrasion-resistant plate materials, alloy shafting and specialty steels for the surface and underground mining markets. The deal, expected to close in October, will see Tricon integrated into the Latrobe, Pa.-based cutting tools and abrasives manufacturer’s Advanced Materials Solutions Group.
