Sperian Protection to buy British fall safety manufacturer

Sperian Protection agreed to acquire British fall safety products manufacturer Combisafe International AB for about $94.4 million.

Northampton, U.K.-based Combisafe, which makes safety guard rail and working platform systems, employs about 100 workers and posted sales of roughly $47 million last year.

The French safety products manufacturer, which bills itself as the world's leader in eye protection and fall protection and number two in hearing protection,said the deal, expected to close within 30 days, brings a complementary product line under its umbrella (Combisafe will be integrated into its global fall protection unit) and increases its footprint in markets in the Middle East.

“Together with our current fall protection operations, Sperian will now offer a worldwide prevention solution, with both collective and individual fall protection product ranges positioned on the high end of the market. It will also boost our position in developing countries,” chairman and CEO Henri-Dominique Petit said.
