BSA elects 2008-09 board of directorsThe Bearing Specialists Assn. elected its 2008-2009 officers and board of directors at its annual convention at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Ariz.
Joining BSA president Steve Durston will be Eduardo Bichara, Baleromex, S.A. de C.V., Mexico City (first vice president); Ellen Holladay, Motion Industries Inc., Birmingham, Ala. (second vice president); Howard Gainey, Bearings and Drives, Inc., Macon, Ga. (treasurer); and Cam Lawrence, BDI Canada Inc., Mississauga, Ontario (chairman of the board).
Elected to the BSA board for three-year terms were Hal Allen, Allied Bearings and Supply Co. Inc., Tulsa, Okla.; Bill DuComb, W.C. DuComb Co., Detroit, Mich.; and John Timble, Bearing Headquarters Co., Broadview, Ill. Geoff Filker of Eastern Bearings Inc., Waltham, Mass., was elected for a one-year term.
BSA members who will continue to serve on the board are: Gordon Duncan, Kinecor Inc., Lachine, Quebec; Craig Gipson, Gipson Bearing & Supply, West Homestead, Pa.; Tom Armold, Applied Industrial Technologies, Cleveland, Ohio; Doug Savage, Bearing Service Inc., Livonia, Mich.; and James Webster, DXP Enterprises, Houston.

PTDA announces six new membersSix businesses—three distributors, two manufacturers and one associate—have joined the Power Transmission Distributors Assn.
The three distributor members are:Crimson Electric Inc. of Greer, S.C., a distributor of mechanical power transmission products, motors and electrical/electronic drives; Solutions Industrielles of Chicoutimi, Quebec, a distributor of mechanical power transmission products, bearings and accessories; and Van Meter Industrial of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a distributor of mechanical power transmission products, motors and accessories.
The manufacturer members are: Drop Designs of Prince George, British Columbia, a manufacturer of bearings and power transmission accessories; and Leeson Canada, of Mississauga, Ontario, a manufacturer of speed drives, clutches, brakes and material handling components.
Joining as an associate member is Billtrust of Jamesburg, N.J., which prepares billing for customers, in paper and electronic form, and collects payments electronically.
PTDA has also released its 2008 membership directory, which includes company contact information, executive contacts, number and location of branches and manufacturers' lines represented by each member.

Inge Calderon is appointed to ICP advisory councilInge Calderon, executive director of the American Supply Assn. Education Foundation, has been named to the advisory council for the Industrial Careers Pathway.
The ICP connects students to careers in industrial distribution through partnerships with local educators and employers.
In her role on the advisory council, Calderon will work to promote industrial distribution curricula at community colleges throughout the United States and Canada.
“The ASA Education Foundation has been part of the ICP Partner Alliance for several years now,” says Calderon. “Our partnership has been a natural fit that allows us to share resources and ideas.”
