Huttig Building products to shutter Tennessee, California branches

Huttig Building Products Inc. plans to shutter its branches in Fresno, Calif., and Jackson, Tenn., according to a filing with the federal Securities and Exchange Commission.

“These actions are being taken as part of the company's effort to appropriately adjust the size of its infrastructure in light of the continuing decline in housing starts,” the St. Louis-based building materials distributor said in the filing.

The closures are slated for the third quarter.

Huttig said it will continue to serve its Fresno-area customers from its distribution facility in Sacramento, Calif., and its Jackson customers from facilities in Nashville, Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Jackson, Miss.
