Acklands-Grainger buys Excel Industriel

W.W. Grainger Inc.’s Canadian Acklands subsidiary acquired Excel Industriel, a broad-line MRO distributor based in Granby, Quebec, for an undisclosed amount.Grainger, which ranked fourth on INDUSTRIAL DISTRIBUTION’s 2008 Big 50 list of distributors, said Excel’s Granby branch will be integrated into the Acklands-Grainger branch there within 60 days. The company also said the deal is expected to add roughly $11 million in annual sales to its top line. Grainger posted sales of $6.4 billion last year.
