Home Depot begins construction on new distribution center

The Home Depot broke ground this week on a new distribution center in McCalla, Ala., the Birmingham (Alabama) News reports.
The $33 million center facility is expected to be finished by the end of 2008 and will employ more than 200 people. The 657,000 square foot center is being built on a 70-acre site
HD reportedly received about $2.2 million in tax breaks from surrounding Jefferson County, Ala.
Home Depot is planning a similar facility in Monroe, Ohio, as well, the News reported. There, HD was recently grated approval for a $33.9 million, 657,000-square-foot facility.
