Praxair inks another China supply deal

Praxair’s Chinese subsidiary inked a deal to supply oxygen, nitrogen and argon for Zhenshi Group Eastern Special Steel Co. Ltd.’s stainless steel manufacturing plant in Jiaxing, China.

Praxair (China) Investment Co. Ltd. will build a new air separation plant for the steel factory that will produce 400 tons of gases a day, beginning in mid-2009.

It’s the latest in a string of Chinese supply deals for the Danbury, Conn.-based industrial gases distributor, which signed a pair of agreements to provide oxygen for water treatment facilities for the 2008 Beijing Olympics; a deal to supply a variety of gases to a Shanghai semiconductor plant; and another, 15-year contract to provide China’s largest copper producer, Jinlong Copper Co. Ltd., with oxygen and nitrogen from a new air separation plant in Tongling.
