Husqvarna to buy Meco Saws

Husqvarna agreed to acquire concrete saw manufacturer Masterpiece Engineering Co. for an undisclosed amount.Prescott, Ariz.-based Meco, which manufactures concrete and asphalt cutting equipment, has annual sales of about $9 million. The deal is expected to close at end of April.
“Meco has a strong market position in the U.S. and Australia,” Husqvarna Construction Products head Anders Ströby said. “Synergies will be achieved with existing operation in terms of production and distribution. In addition, Husqvarna manufactures diamond blades that are consumed by these floor saws, which will contribute to higher sales in this product area.”
Stockholm, Sweden-based Husqvarna manufactures lawn mowers, chainsaws, portable gas-powered garden equipment, diamond tools and cutting equipment. The company posted sales of $5.6 billion last year and employs about 16,000 people.
