Builders FirstSource buys Alabama DC

Builders FirstSouce bought a distribution center in Chelsea, Ala., from Wheeler's Building Materials for an undisclosed amount, the Birmingham Business Journal reported.Wheeler’s filed for bankruptcy protection in February after announcing that the housing downturn was forcing it to shutter some of its branches and lay off hundreds of workers.
It’s the second acquisition in the Birmingham area for the Dallas-based building materials distributor since July 2007, according to the business journal, when it purchased Bama Truss and Components Inc. in Shelby, Ala.
