Veyance Technologies Inc. is planning to expand one of its Ohio facilities, Business First of Columbus reported. The former Goodyear Engineered Products division expects to add 24,000 square feet to its Marysville, Ohio, factory in an $18 million project expected to finish in August.
Plant manager Bryan Thompson told the newspaper the 320-worker facility posts sales of more than $150 million each year.
“What [the expansion] really does … is helps us stay competitive in our business world by staying ahead,” Thompson said. “Everybody is always looking for a better product that lasts longer, does a better job and has a better overall cost."
Lance Humble, vice president and co-founder of Humble Construction, the company performing the expansion, said the upgrade will allow the facility to handle more heavy-duty industrial work, especially the 50-ton parts needed for assembling some heavy-duty belt systems. Two 50-ton cranes will run the length of the facility.
"This is by no means a normal commercial warehouse," Humble said.
