Wheeler’s Building Materials is shuttering branches and laying off workers in the face of the ongoing construction slump, the Rome News-Tribune reported.

The Rome, Ga.-based building materials distributor plans to lay off 155 workers at its headquarters and 65 employees at a window plant in Rome. Forty-four other workers will also lose their jobs at one of the company’s plants in Cartersville, Ga. The 264 employees represent roughly half of the company’s workforce.

Wheeler’s closed plants in Charlotte, N.C., and Dalton, Calhoun, Newnan, Morrow, Madison and Cartersville, Ga., last year. The company also sold a plant in Birmingham, Ala.
