Schneider Electric expands motion control business
-- Industrial Distribution, 2/1/2008
Schneider Electric agreed to acquire Intelligent Motion Systems for an undisclosed amount.
Marlborough, Conn.-based IMS, which had sales of roughly $20 million last year, makes integrated motor and drive products.
The deal expands Rueil Malmaison, France-based Schneider's presence in the motion control market.
“With this acquisition we will expand our product offering for OEM customers in the U.S. while providing increased technical support in motion applications,” executive vice president of automation Michel Crochon says.
“Teaming up with Schneider Electric will give us faster access to the global market and allow us to expand and secure our growth internationally,” says IMS CEO and founder David Coutu, who will continue to lead the company.
