Noland cuts 45 jobs

Industrial Distribution staff -- Industrial Distribution, 12/4/2007 6:00:00 AM

The national housing downturn pushed the Noland Co. to cut its workforce by roughly 3.5 percent, the Newport News Daily Press reported.

The Newport News, Va.-based plumbing and HVAC supplies distributor, which is owned by WinWholesale, reduced its workforce by 45.

Spokesman Steve Edwards told the newspaper the job cuts were spread across Noland’s branches and corporate headquarters. The company employs roughly 1,300 people.

WinWholesale ranked seventh on INDUSTRIAL DISTRIBUTION’s 2007 Big 50 list of distributors, with sales of $2.6 billion last year.
