Zep Inc. targets jan/san distribution channel

Industrial Distribution staff -- Industrial Distribution, 11/30/2007 5:40:00 AM

Zep Inc. plans to grow its core business in the industrial and institutional jan/san market by targeting the $11.9 billion distribution channel and major distributors including HD Supply and W.W. Grainger Inc.

The Atlanta-based cleaning and maintenance chemicals manufacturer, which lighting manufacturer Acuity Brands Inc. spun off as an independent public company Nov. 1, held its first investor call Nov. 29.

“Significant opportunities are created by our independence,” chairman, president and CEO John Morgan said. “In order to capitalize upon them, we have devised a well- thought-out strategic plan that will produce near- and long-term results and support strong financial growth and significant shareholder value. … We have a dynamic company that is poised for rapid, sustainable profitable growth.”

The company said it expects to see annual revenues grow faster than the market’s growth rate “without any benefits gained through significant acquisitions.”

Zep, which had net sales more than $565 million during fiscal 2007 and employs more than 2,800 people, markets the Zep, Zep Commercial, Enforcer, National Chemical and Selig product lines.
