Pro-Build Holdings agreed to acquire the lumber and building materials division of HD Supply, the Home Channel News (registration required) reported.HD Supply spokeswoman Lauren Falcone said the Orlando, Fla.-based construction supplies distributor agreed to sell “substantially all of the assets” of the division to Denver-based Pro-Build.
“We are currently working through the due diligence process,” Falcone told the Web site.
Pro-Build spokeswoman Carolyn Atkinson confirmed the deal but declined any further comment, according to the site.
The lumber and building materials division includes 39 lumberyards in Georgia and Florida, 32 truss plants, a construction services division and 10 engineered lumber production facilities. Though they operated under the HD Supply banner, some acquisitions kept their brand names, including Williams Bros. Lumber, Cox Lumber and Forest Products Building Materials.
Pro-Build, which has more than 520 locations in 40 states, was founded in 1997 when Fidelity Capital, the private equity arm of Fidelity Investments, acquired building materials distributor the Strober Organization.
HD Supply, which was acquired by a trio of private equity firms Aug. 23 for $8.5 billion, ranked second on INDUSTRIAL DISTRIBUTION’s 2007 Big 50 list of distributors, with sales of $12.1 billion last year.
