Regal Beloit Corp. agreed to acquire some of the Fasco divisions of Tecumseh Products Co. for $220 million.
The deal, in which the Beloit, Wis.-based motion control and power generation products maker will buy Tecumseh’s Fasco Residential/Commercial and Asia Pacific operations, does not include Fasco’s Automotive/Specialty business.
The Fasco businesses make motors and blower systems for alternative fuel systems, water heaters and HVAC systems.
Regal Beloit said it expects the deal, which is expected to close during the third quarter, to add roughly $290 million in sales during 2008.
Chairman and CEO Henry Knueppel said the transaction expands Regal Beloit’s global manufacturing and commercial footprints and increases its reach further into Asia, including Australia.
The acquisition includes manufacturing and distribution facilities in Eldon and Cassville, Mo.; Piedras Negras, Mexico; Bangkok and Melbourne, Australia.
