Klein Tools founder makes Lineman's Hall of Fame

Mathias Klein, founder of Klein Tools, was inducted in to the Hall of Fame at the International Lineman's Museum.

Klein, who in 1857 forged the first known pair of pliers made in the United States, joined Thomas Edison as part of the museum's inaugural Hall of Fame class.

Founded in 2006, the museum in Shelby, N.C., honors linemen and other pioneers of the electrical industry.

“It is an honor that my great-great-grandfather's legacy will forever be recognized by the International Lineman's Hall of Fame. He would be proud that Klein Tools has diligently continued his work in providing quality hand tools for linemen,” said current Klein Tools chairman Mathias Klein III.

The honor comes at a propitious time—the hand tools and protective equipment manufacturer is celebrating its 150th anniversary.
