Private equity firm buys Lewis-Goetz

Audax Group bought Lewis-Goetz and Co. in June for an undisclosed amount.
It's the second dip into the industrial products sector in as many months for Boston-based Audax, which acquired UTEX Industries Inc., a manufacturer of gaskets and seals based in Houston, in May.
Pittsburgh-based Lewis-Goetz distributes fabricated rubber industrial products to the power generation, aggregate, coal mining, steel and general industrial end markets.
Audax co-CEO Geoffrey Rehnert said the firm will look to expand the distributor's geographical footprint and make further acquisitions.
Lewis-Goetz CEO David Goetz will continue to lead the company.
“We are excited to have Audax Group as our partner. Their experience sourcing and integrating add-on acquisitions will be an important asset for us as we continue to grow our business,” Goetz said.
That growth included the 2005 purchase of the Goodall Rubber Co., formerly ranked 44th on Industrial Distribution's Big 50 list of distributors, a move that increased Lewis-Goetz's sales from $101 million in 2005 to $210 million last year and pushed the company to 31st on the 2007 Big 50.
